The first part of Ian’s professional life was as a biological research scientist, and he has carried his evidence-driven skills and habits through to his advice practice. In essence, if Ian recommends something, you know the data say it’s a good idea - if the data says no, an idea is put to one side. Ian’s background also means he is the man to ask a question, whether that’s a client or another adviser. It’s likely he knows the answer, but if he doesn’t, he likes nothing more than finding out and helping the person who asked. And with the depth of knowledge between all AAG’s advisers, there’s rarely a question that someone doesn’t have the answer for, however idiosyncratic. Away from the office, when the weather is decent you’ll often find Ian fly fishing. On colder dark evenings he’s more likely to be indulging his passion for great wine.
